Scad Stop motion club

secretary 2023-2024, co-president 2024-2025

The main goal of the SCAD Stop Motion Club is to give every student at the Savannah campus a chance to explore the art of stop motion animation in a low stress environment. Since the department is so small, not a lot of students get the chance to take a stop motion class. We put together animation activities such as Claymation, paper downshoots, and object manipulation as well as hosting stop motion themed discussions.

my personal involvement

As a secretary, I took care of a majority of the documentation of both council and club meetings. I also often made 2D examples for animation activities and guided club members when they animated their physical assets while I operated Dragonframe (the stop motion animation program we use). This duty carried on to my Co-Presidential role.

I spent time doing a student led panel for animation majors with fellow SCAD animation club council members to discuss the different animation concentrations at the Savannah campus. The club was also asked to do a panel for prospective students and their family's, so the former Co-president and I spent the day talking over a demo reel of previous students work about all the cool things the stop motion department produces.

The SCAD Stop Motion Club is a fulfilling way to share the joys of stop motion animation and fabrication. I take a lot of pride in getting to share the unique quirks that come with the craft as well as support our tiny department.
